If you sign up to the Honda Connect app or connected services, your personal information will be collected by Honda New Zealand Ltd and our parent company in Japan, Honda Motor Co., Ltd. 

This collection statement provides details about the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information in connection with the Honda Connect app and connected services.

Your personal information is collected from: 

  1. You when you use the Honda Connect app or connected services or drive a vehicle with activated connected services.  Such information may include your username, password, vehicle location, driving behaviour, voice commands, and vehicle condition, performance and malfunction;  
  2. Your authorised representatives, including the owner of the vehicle you drive when using the connected services; and 
  3. Honda Stores, Honda Service Stores or Honda Service Centres (“Honda outlets”) when you give them your personal information, including when you ask them to help you sign up to the connected services or enquire about the Honda Connect app or connected services. 

Honda New Zealand and Honda Motor Co also collect your personal information from each other.

Collection of your personal information is not required or authorised by law. 

Purposes of collection

Honda New Zealand collects your personal information to provide the Honda Connect app and connected services to you, verify your identity, respond to your enquiries or requests, conduct analytics and reporting, send you surveys, improve the Honda Connect app, connected services and Honda vehicles, conduct product and service development, planning and quality management, and for any other purposes described in the Service Terms and Conditions and Honda Connect app. 

Main consequences of not collecting personal information

If Honda New Zealand does not collect any personal information requested, you may not be able to use the Honda Connect app, the connected services or their features.

Honda New Zealand may disclose your personal information to Honda Motor Co, Honda R&D Co. Ltd., Honda outlets, customer service and other service providers who assist in the operation of the Honda New Zealand business and other third parties for the purposes for which it was collected, including emergency responders and regulatory authorities.
