AUCKLAND, February 3rd 2021 – The new 2021 Honda Odyssey, an update on a New Zealand bestseller officially launches today with a new exterior design, significantly upgraded features and Honda Sensing Advanced Safety technology now standard on all grades. These changes complement the core, unique features that separate it from its competitors – ultra-low floor height, passenger car-like handling, comfortable interior with space and flexibility, contemporary styling, advanced technology and an efficient petrol engine.

Feature Boost – High specification as standard

Local line up is strengthened with the introduction of a Touring grade. Offering significant specification improvements on the outgoing S variant, whilst retaining the 8 seat fabric configuration. Included but not limited too; Honda Sensing Advanced Safety suite, Dual one-touch power sliding doors, blind spot monitoring, cross traffic warning system, LED headlights, LED fog lights, smart entry, push button start, walk away auto locking and new generation 8” infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay.

The Premium grade [replaces the outgoing LS model] also receives a significant feature lift, building on the changes seen on the Touring grade, the Premium also adds Hand-free power tailgate with kick sensor, gesture control power sliding doors, key-linked drivers memory seats, extended courtesy lighting (interior and exterior) and an electrostatic climate control panel is added for the 2nd row passengers in the captains seats.

Intelligent Design – Modern Sophistication

A more upscale and distinctive presence has been crafted courtesy of front end redesign, featuring a bold new grille, new bumper, bonnet, and revised front guards. Sophistication continues with new design headlights and taillights, now featuring sequential LED indicators.

New design alloys feature across both grades, 17 inch two tone with a machined finish.

Inside, the Odysseys spacious and tech-savvy cabin gets an all new dashboard, steering wheel, driver display screen and 8” infotainment system. The infotainment system utilizes a new operating system, a new screen, and physical knobs for key functions. Connectivity is also improved with the inclusion of Apple Car Play and Android Auto – an Odyssey first in the New Zealand market.

The all new dashboard also features significant improvements in usability, with a large upper storage box added to the passenger side, an additional easy-reach driver’s cup holder and new air vents for improved cooling.

Driver and passenger comfort is also improved with the utilization of acoustic suppressing glass and wheel resonators. The thicker glass better cancels the noise from outside the vehicle to improve the passenger experience. The wheel resonators suppress unwanted resonance, to provide a quiet, comfortable ride.

The updated Odyssey range is powered by a 2.4-litre DOHC i-VTEC four cylinder engine that produces 129 kW of power at 6200 rpm and 225 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm – it is mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with G-design Shift, idle stop and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
